GRAMMY Gospel History

The first Gospel music artist to win a GRAMMY was New Orleans native Mahalia Jackson. Her record "Every Time I Feel the Spirit" won Best Gospel or Religious Recording in 1961, and she was later inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Over 60 years later, the legacy continues with the 2025 GRAMMY Winners.

Congratulations to all the honorees who were celebrated for creating excellent music that uplifts the name of Jesus Christ.
